DAYTONA BEACH, FL — Thousands of people head to Florida each winter to enjoy the warm weather. They stay into the spring, relaxing on the beautiful beaches and getting in a few more rounds of golf before they head home.
In April, Daytona Beach will be visited by people from all over North America who are coming to town in RVs — driving motorhomes, pulling trailers — as part of The Rally, an annual event for RV owners that over the course of four days offering educational seminars, exhibits, activities and entertainment.
The Rally (formerly called the Great North American RV Rally) moves to a different part of the United States each year, and this year will be at the world-famous Daytona International Speedway, April 7-10. It’s the first time an RV-specific event has been held at the Speedway, and the first time in The Rally’s history it’s been in Florida. It couldn’t be a better marriage.
The Speedway offers a unique setup that will allow the more than 500 booths and nearly 1,000 new rigs on display to be near each other, making everything an easy walk for attendees. And the seminars that will take place each day on topics such as RVing to Alaska, Digital Photography, Troubleshooting engine problems, Making money on the Road and Healthy Cooking, will be in on-site rooms. In other words, everything will be in one place.
More than 4,000 RVs are expected to be parked on the grounds and at nearby satellite lots, with about 10,000 people on the grounds each day. There will be round-the-clock activities, including a dog show, golf tournament, ballroom dancing contest and RV Rescue, in which a run-down 1984 motorhome will be completely refurbished on site.
Rally attendees will also enjoy the headline entertainers who will be on stage each night. Performances by America (April 7), Juice Newton (April 8), the Michael Andrews Orchestra (April 9) and The Spinners are all included in the registration fee.
Want to join the fun? Parking spots are still available for $159 (a rig with two people). Sign up at www.rv.net/rally or call 877-749-7122. If you want to see the exhibits (no seminars or entertainment), a Day Pass is only $10 per person. Rally Passports are all available for $59 per person. Good April 7-10, they grand the holder admission to all seminars, activities and entertainment.
The Rally is hosted by the Good Sam Club, Camping World President’s Club, Coast to Coast Resorts, Woodall’s and Trailer Life and MotorHome magazines.
