Neil Sedaka, one of rock 'n' roll's legendary singer-songwriters, has created timeless standards, numerous hit singles and platinum and gold records for over 40 years. A prolific and versatile author of more than 1,000 songs, Sedaka recorded chart toppers, including "The Diary," "Oh! Carol," "Stairway to Heaven," "Calendar Girl," "Little Devil," "Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen," "Next Door To An Angel," and "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do."
A classically trained pianist at the famed Julliard School of Music, Sedaka is widely recognized not only as a performer of his own material, but also for the montage of hits he has penned for others such as "Puppet Man" for Tom Jones, "Workin' on a Groovy Thing," for The Fifth Dimension, "Solitaire" for The Carpenters, "When Love Comes Knocking At Your Door" for The Monkeys, and "Love Will Keep Us Together" for Captain and Tennille. For over 30 years, Sedaka's music combined with Howard Greenfield's lyrics resulted in sales of more than 25 million records.
Sedaka's solo comeback was heralded in 1975 with the release of "Bad Blood" and "Laughter in the Rain." The same year, he also re-recorded "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do" as a ballad and made history when it climbed to #1 on the music charts, becoming the first song recorded in two different versions by the same artist to reach the Top Ten. The song was also listed by BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) as one of the 50 most performed songs of the 20th century.
Sedaka continues entertaining people worldwide with his music today through TV appearances and live performances. For more information, visit www.neilsedaka.com.
